Twin, birth, fabric—pulled from the loom, unrolled, untangled, becomes dress, becomes form, becomes presence. Duality and opposites in balance. Connection, curiosity, release. Transformation as the key to inner freedom. Facets of self—consciously lived, consciously obscured. Moments that repeat, resemble—yet never align.
In 'BORN IN TWO', material becomes form—blurring the lines between fashion and art, transcending its function, and manifesting fashion as a vessel of conceptual expression and spatial dialogue.

Through her artistic narrative, Vanessa Baernthol reflects the fusion between feared artifacts and the artistrotic touch of the past, in a modern context. Drawing upon her background as fashion designer, stylist and creative director, Baernthol finds her essence in self expression and the profound allure of layering. This essence serves as foundation of the brand's identity, encapsulating the interplay between dark elements and modern sensibilities. Central to her artistic vision in design practice is the juxtaposition of the aesthetic of the ugly and the fundamental essence of beauty, reimagining them within a new context to enable diverse interpretations. For her FW24 collection, she adorns opulent, dramatic couture pieces of voluminous black tulle with divine pearl objects, symbolizing a transformative state of being. The passion imbued in the unique handcrafted pearl elements symbolizes a profound dialogue between the architectural craftsmanship of jewelry transposed onto garments.
In THREADED, threads become both material and metaphor, drawing us into a world where connection forms the essence of existence. Suspended threads stretch across the room, creating an intricate web of interlaced lines that converge, diverge and re-emerge, mirroring a complex connection. Each thread represents a singular, fragile individual, yet together they form a cohesive whole. The threads weave between objects, across voids and into the air, defying the boundaries of space. The art installation delves into the design practice of Vanessa Baernthol, revealing the process of piecing together elements, one by one, creating new structures. By blurring the lines between fashion and art, the installation suggests that fashion can transcend wearability, becoming a medium for conceptual expression and spatial exploration.
